Dr. Pierson
Diplomat, American Dental Board of Anesthesiologists Dr. Pierson completed dental school at Loma Linda University in 1971. After 2 years of military service in the US Air Force, he and his family moved to Blantyre, Malawi, Africa where Dr. Pierson served as a dental missionary. Ten years later they moved to Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, Africa in the same capacity. After a total of 17 years in Africa, the family returned to the United States where Dr. Pierson worked as an assistant professor in the School of Dentistry at Loma Linda University. In 1993 he entered the Anesthesiology residency at the School of Medicine, Loma Linda University. He completed his training in Anesthesiology in June 1995 and became board certified in March 1996. Dr. Pierson moved to the central San Joaquin valley in 1995 and opened HAPY BEAR DENTISTRY in 1997. Dr. Pierson is married to a nurse who works for the Kings County Health Department and has two sons. The oldest is a dentist and the youngest is a businessman.
Dr. Zuiderveld
Dr. Zuiderveld graduated from California State University, Fresno in 1995 with a Bachelors of Arts Degree. She continued her education at the Loma Linda University School of Dentistry and in 1999 graduated with a Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree. She graduated with honors in oral pathology and orthodontics and was recognized by the International College of Dentists for scholastic achievement. Dr. Zuiderveld worked as a general dentist for two years until joining the Hapy Bear team in 2001. Dr. Zuiderveld holds an Oral Conscious Sedation Certificate, issued by the State of California, which allows her to administer oral sedation to children ages 13 and younger. She is also certified in Pediatric Advanced Life Support. During her tenure with Hapy Bear, Dr. Zuiderveld has really enjoyed the opportunity to provide special care to those children requiring sedation dentistry.
Dr. Ricks
Fellow American Dental Society of Anesthesiology Diplomate National Dental Board of Anesthesiology Dr. Ricks completed Dental School at Loma Linda University School of Dentistry in 1972 graduating with Degrees in Dentistry (D.D.S.) and a Masters in Public Health (M.P.H.). He continued his education through 1973 in Oral Surgery/Anesthesiology at the LLU Dental School, LLU Medical Center, and the Orange County Medical Center. He maintains certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). Dr. Ricks was President/CEO of Hanford Community Medical Center from 1987-1992. He and his wife Gayle have two sons both living in the San Joaquin Valley.
